Museo del Prado is one of the finest European art galleries in the world which is situated in the eponymous street of Madrid. It is a combination of traditional European arts and galleries which reflects the European cultures before 20th century.

Museo del Prado is one of the most visiting museum throughout the world and the top and finest in Spain. Different wonderful arts and paintings and the collections of medals, old coins, prints, drawings are the true attractions of Museo del Prado. The credit goes to different artists such as Goya, Raphael, Rubens and Velazquez due to Neo- classical designs and decoration of the museum which was opened to the public in 1819.

Currently, there are the collections of more than 1000 coins and valuable metals, 5,000 drawings, 2,000 prints and numbers of painting and sculpture. There are about 1,000 wonderful arts and 8,000 paintings but visitors can see only about 1,500 paintings due to the lack of exhibition place in the museum. There is a newly opened exhibition area where, about 400 paintings can be exhibited temporarily. It is one of the greatest art museums all over the world due to brilliant arts and paintings.

The history of Museo del Prado starts from the eighteenth century. Charles III ordered to construct the Museo Nacional del Prado and it was designed by Juan de Villanueva in 1785. The museum was as a new Royal museum of Painting and sculpture and it was opened to the general public in 1819 under the regime of Ferdinand VII.

The major purpose of establishing this museum was to exhibit the Spanish arts throughout the Europe and display the works of art in Spanish culture. The arts and galleries were collected by different people at different period of time. Goya gave amazing contribution to the expansion of Prado museum by collecting wonderful arts and galleries due to which his statue was created outside the entry point. There are many arts and paintings which were collected till 20th century. The museum was taken by the Spanish government under the regime of Queen Isabella II in 1868 and named it as- Museo del Prado.

Museo del Prado could not be far from the Spanish Civil war due to which about 168 drawings, 350 paintings were wiped out and sent it to Geneva. In 2007, the museum has developed some strategies to increase the number of visitors that support to raise fund for the expansion of exhibition space.
